VooDoo Child”) has proven to be one of the best Creole Hip-hop artists with in the new Caribbean International Hip-Hop generation. The Haitian natives who have been residing in “Ghost Town” aka Irvington, NJ for most of their lives have developed and mastered a new compelling style of Hip-Hop, by combining their native tongue Creole with English to form what is commonly known by Haitian people as “Cringlish”. By blending the melodic sounds of Kompa, Zouk, Reggae, Hip-hop, R&B, while incorporating “Ghost Towns” cultural diversity, swagger, struggles, money, and power VDC introduces you to their “Voodoo City”.
VDC Muzik demands attention and are more than a triple threat to all opposition and competition. They have made a major impact on the Metropolitan area as well as overseas since its establishment in 2000. From its birth VDC has received media attention and support from a number of entertainment companies and promoters including but not limited to: Tele Citronelle, H.I.T.T.V., Tele Metro, H.S.T.V., B.C.A.S.T., Live Wire T.V., HaitiXChange, Telescope Films, BlueRoomLabel, BFL Entertainment, Roupy Entertainment, Kafou, Inc., Wane Enterprises, and AOS Entertainment. With mind blowing “make you jump out of your seat” performances VDC has shown that they are truly dedicated to their craft and are truly talented lyrists.
VDC takes their music to the next level, by not only rapping about guns, sex, and violence but about political issues in Haiti such as poverty and discrimination. In wake of Tropical Storm “Jeanne” that struck the city of Gonaives, Haiti in 2004 VDC collaborated with other Haitian music artists to create the song also entitled “Gonaives” to bring awareness to the local communities about the tragedy. All proceeds from the single went to charities that supported the victims of the storm. VDC is the future of the Creole Hip-Hop / Rap Kreyol movement and can be appreciated respectively by both old and new generations.
